Introduction
You may have wondered if your diet affects how well or how quickly you're aging. Well, in fact there are some foods that can compromise that beauty and your aging process can be accelerated by eating these three types of foods. Now the good news is there are foods that I will share as well that are actually great for your skin and can help to slow down that aging process.
#1: Margarine
Margarine is loaded with trans fats and what was once touted as the health food supposed to be great for our cardiovascular system, well the truth is now out there that this is simply not true and those trans fats can be really bad for your cell membranes, aging you more quickly.
#2: Sugar
Sugar is a bad one. Now we know that process sugar unfortunately causes something called glycation and this is going to cause a cross-linking of your collagen fibers. Now this is something that again we want to have a great structure of our collagen fibers. We don't want them to be all Mish mashed and cross-linked together that is what we will see now in the skin surface as the dips and the peaks in the valleys and that is your wrinkles. So trying to stay away from especially processed sugars is going to do a lot to help to keep your skin looking youthful as you're aging.
#3: Alcohol
Now unfortunately alcohol really does dehydrate the skin. We know that part of having beautiful skin is maintaining that proper hydration in the skin itself from the inside out which basically is can sort of plump up your skin and those wrinkles from the inside. There are certain nutrients that help to do that but alcohol is really going to dehydrate you making your skin not look so great as you're aging. Now we also know that alcohol unfortunately kills your good bacteria, your probiotics, and can compromise the health of your microbiome and that's another thing that is definitely linked your microbiome to the health of your skin.
Now there are some good foods of course that will help to slow down that aging process and some of my favourites to make you look younger include olive oil which we know is loaded with polyphenols, great antioxidants for maintaining that beauty of your skin. Blueberries also very high in antioxidants, avocados have healthy fats again great for your skin and my favourite: dark chocolate. Now dark chocolate we know is loaded with antioxidants. Just always make sure that you're finding a good quality organic dark chocolate and just a little bit is enough to help to maintain that beautiful skin as you age.
