Introduction
Did you realize that the honey you're consuming can be fake? I'm going to explain how you determine whether you have real or fake honey. Unfortunately, what they do in the honey industry is dilute the actual honey with less expensive syrups, such as high fructose corn syrup, so that it goes further and costs less to produce. They might also be adding molasses. Some businesses even add water to honey to stretch it further.
How to Tell Honey is Fake
Here's an effective method to test your honey at home. All you need is a glass of room temperature water. Take a spoonful of honey and drop it into the water. Genuine honey will remain intact and sink to the bottom of the glass. In contrast, fake honey will quickly dissolve and won't form dense clumps. Real honey is denser and heavier than water, which is why it sinks and stays together.
Indication Honey is Real
Another reliable indicator of genuine honey is the presence of some crystallization. Local apiarists produce honey in the region, which is particularly beneficial if you have allergies, as it supports your immune system. Additionally, honey is a natural antibiotic, and the crystallization further confirms its authenticity.
