Yoga Facial Exercises: How to Lose Sagging Jowls

Introduction

As we age, our cheeks begin to sag, and the once-sharp jawline softens. Yoga facial exercises are simple, yet effective, exercises that can help to lift sagging jowls, smooth out wrinkles, and enhance the natural contours of your face. If you’ve been looking for ways to maintain that youthful glow and restore the firmness to your face, you’re in the right place! These exercises will also help improve lymphatic drainage in your face, helping your skin detoxify and stay radiant.
Let’s jump in and explore these exercises together, and remember, don’t be afraid to join along—it's all in good fun! Yes, you might look a little goofy while doing them (I always do), but trust me, your face will thank you later!

Smile Your Way to a Tighter Jawline

One of my favorite facial exercises is a simple smile—yes, you read that right! But not just any smile; we’re going to do it with a twist to target those jowls and minimize wrinkles.

Here’s how to do it:
First, pull your face back as you smile. This helps to tighten the skin around your cheeks and jawline.
If you have any existing wrinkles around your mouth, this movement will help minimize them by gently stretching and smoothing the skin.
Do 20 repetitions of this big, wide smile, holding it for a second before relaxing.

Try to incorporate this exercise into your daily routine, ideally three times a day. It’s super easy to do in the car while you’re waiting at a red light! People might look at you funny, but don’t worry—it's all for beauty!

Lymphatic Drainage for a Healthier Glow

Now, let’s talk about lymphatic drainage, a key step many people miss in their beauty routines. The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in removing toxins from the body, and helping it function properly can lead to a clearer, more vibrant complexion.

Step 1: Chin Tapping

  • Start by slightly jutting your chin forward.

  • Use your fingers to gently tap beneath your chin and along your jawline. Make sure to tap firmly enough to stimulate blood flow, but not so hard that it hurts.

  • Aim for 20 repetitions, moving around the entire jawline area. You’ll feel a slight tingling sensation as the blood begins to circulate.

Step 2: Gentle Lymphatic Movement

  • Now, place your fingers behind your ears and lightly drag them forward along your jawline. The lymph is just beneath the skin, so you don’t need to press too hard—just a light touch is enough.

  • Repeat this motion 20 times. Then, gently move your hands downward along your neck, towards your chest, for another 20 repetitions. This helps the lymphatic fluid flow towards your heart, promoting better drainage.

You should start seeing and feeling the effects of these movements almost immediately. You’ll notice a subtle redness as blood flow increases, which is a great sign that your body is responding to the exercise.

Bonus Tips for Glowing Skin

While facial exercises are key to maintaining a youthful appearance, supplementing them with the right nutrients can boost the effects.

Some of my personal favorites include:
VitaFish Oil: A supplement I personally created to support skin health from the inside out. It’s packed with omega-3s, which are essential for keeping your skin moisturized and radiant.
VitaTree Hair, Skin & Nails Formula: A powerhouse of natural ingredients that nourish your skin, hair, and nails. If you want to maintain that healthy glow, this formula is a must-try!

I hope you’ve enjoyed these exercises and that you’re ready to start incorporating them into your routine. With consistency, you’ll start seeing results in as little as 3-4 days, especially when it comes to firming up your jawline and improving your overall facial appearance.
